Welcome

This blog is an extension of my upcoming book set to release in the Summer of 2022. I write about issues facing the child welfare system while describing my own personal experiences to raise awareness and promote change. I hope you’ll join me in this movement!

Welcome!

This is an exciting time.

I’ve been known in my community for discussing hard topics that relate to issues plaguing our child welfare system.  As an advocate for children living in foster-care, and a mentor for those who have exited ‘the system’ including myself, my number one passion has been standing up for what’s right. Sometimes, this is a tragic process because I bear witness to the ills that exist in this bureaucracy. It’s deplorable to see, but also ignites hope that we can fix the troubles stemming within our government’s attempts to provide care for children
afflicted by a wide range of issues.

It’s taken me years to arrive here, now. There’s been a constant ebb and flow of shame and humiliation triggered by my experiences with the system that’s prevented me from asserting my beliefs and viewpoints on how this system could be better if it is changed for the better. I’ve also undertaken the natural evolution of myself after foster-care, that has been tied up in dealing with past issues stemming from my childhood encounters with the system that prevented me from living in an authentic way. Finally, I’ve arrived in a place where I believe this is meant for me.

During the times where it was difficult to talk about my past, because I was afraid of how I would be seen and accepted, I knew I was dancing with fleeting moments because I missed the opportunities to direct all
of this energy back into the system in a proactive and meaningful way. But I’m here now, to share my experiences and knowledge with you, to make this process a better time for those who are struggling.

Sometimes, it doesn’t get easier, but I hope to participate in processes that make it easier. Thus, in my good faith effort to keep pushing forward, this blog is an extension of my book, “On Ward Child” that will be self-published in 2022! While the original Publish date had been set in 2020, we are somewhat of expert on the novel coronavirus and the affliction its mustered over our livelihoods.

Nevertheless, our child welfare system is not immune to its own ill-plaguing society and until we respectively collaborate as a village enjoining to prevent any further family destruction and dysfunction caused by a jarred and jaded legal system, we can only watch and complain as the family model breaks down..is that what you want?

I don’t, and I’m so glad you’ve decided to stop by! I hope you’ll join me in this movement!

Stay tuned for updates on all the hard work On Ward Child intends to accomplish.
